Neck pain

Neck pain ranges from a stiff, achy neck to sharp restriction and headaches that come from the neck. For a lot of people it builds up quietly over years of desk work, screens and stress, then becomes hard to shift.

Like the lower back, the neck often ends up paying for what’s happening elsewhere.

Often it isn’t where it hurts

The neck has no backup either — so when the mid-back (thoracic spine) stiffens and stops rotating and extending, the neck is left to do movement it can’t. Add a forward-head desk posture and the load multiplies. That’s why treating only the neck often gives short-lived relief: the driver is usually lower down. We assess the neck, mid-back and how you hold and move to find what’s actually overloading it.

How we treat it

Treatment restores movement to the neck and the stiff mid-back behind it, and releases the overloaded muscles.

Then we give you the movement and postural habits to keep it settled — especially if you work at a desk.

Common questions

Why does my neck keep getting stiff?

Often because the mid-back below it has stiffened, leaving the neck to do too much. Treating only the neck misses that.

Can my neck cause headaches?

Yes — tension and restriction in the upper neck commonly refer pain into the head (cervicogenic headache).

Is my desk setup the problem?

It’s often part of it. We’ll help with movement and habits, not just a one-off fix.

Will it keep coming back?

Not if we address the cause and you have a few simple things to stay on top of it — which we’ll show you.
